Critical Infrastructure Security Center(Home Affairs) administers the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI Act)
These give functions and powers to the Department of Home Affairs (the Department) which include, but are not limited to:

On 2 April 2022, the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 was amended, introducing a new enhanced cyber security obligations framework for systems of national significance —Australia’s most important critical infrastructure assets.
A number of initiatives under the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy, and Commonwealth Cyber Security Uplift Plan, came into effect in July 2025, including the release of the Systems of Government Significance (SoGS) Standard under the Protective Security Policy Framework.
The Systems of Government Significance Standard details the mandatory cyber security obligations for protecting systems or services that are declared as a Systems of Government Significance. Available to government personnel on the Protective Security Policy GovTEAMS community.
